Sunday School
From mid-September to late May classes are offered to children age three to grade six. On Sunday at 9:45 am children and their parents are welcome to sing a few songs and hear a simple message from the pastor. Then at 10:00, when worship begins, classes are held. At the present time our staff is using a curriculum called “Spark,” which follows the set of Bible reading used in worship. New students are always welcome.
Confirmation Class
Those desiring to become members of the congregation are required to attend instructional classes. Teens (often in grade seven or eight) meet with the pastor for two years, examining the Bible and Martin Luther’s Small Catechism (which describes the meaning of the Ten Commandments, Apostles’ Creed, Lord’s Prayer, Baptism and Holy Communion). Adults meet with the pastor as needs and interests arise.
Youth Group
Teens age twelve to eighteen are invited to participate in our youth program. This year the members have decided to meet once a month after Sunday morning worship, and once a month at a another time. The schedule is developed by the members, and includes opportunities to develop friendships, enjoy recreation, and respond to needs in the community. Check the most recent newsletter or calendar of events to find out when the group is next meeting.
Bible Study
Reading and studying the Bible is a life-long process. At the present time a study for women is held in members’ homes in Notre Dame de Grace and the West Island. The pastor also leads sessions from time to time, the details of which are published in our newsletter and in the Coming Events section of our website. Suggestions for new topics are welcome.
Retreat
In September members and friends of Christ the Redeemer attend a retreat in Mont Tremblant. The weekend event includes time for worship, study, shared meals and recreation for people of all ages in a beautiful and relaxed setting. Planning usually begins in the spring, and registration opens in August.
